Special Hope Network provides you with a unique opportunity to impact the lives of orphans with special needs. We would love for you to pray to see whether God is calling you to partner with us in caring for those who don’t have a voice.

We have a few different ways for you to be involved.

1. First and foremost, if you would, go to our Pray tab, spend some time there (hopefully a long time !! ) and then come back here. (And then, of course, go back to the Pray tab, and pray some more!)

2. Have a reception in your home where we present our ministry with a powerpoint presentation to any folks you think might want to partner with us. So, you invite your friends, or family, or folks from your church, or all of the above, and our family will come for approximately one hour.

3. Give an informational packet to your church missions team personally. We can send the packet to you, and you can give it to them with some personal introduction. This is so much more effective than us sending an unsolicited packet in the mail. We all know what that is like!

4. Support us monthly. We are currently working to be in Africa by early 2010. There are many one-time costs, such as immunizations, passports, visas, and flights, and purchasing a vehicle to get around when we are there. After the initial start-up costs, we will need monthly supporters to cover our living costs while in Africa, so that we can go from school to orphanage, to orphan home teaching, training and caring for those who have intellectual disabilities. There will be no building costs, so we will be a relatively inexpensive and valuable mission group to support. Your support money will pay for a vehicle and gas to get around to each location, as well as our cost of living. In the future, we would love to be able to have therapists come to stay with us and train workers at the schools and orphan villages we will be working with. Our goal is to serve those groups already working with orphans, but who are unable due to cost to add children with cognitive disabilities.

5. One of our primary mission goals is to create a sponsorship program for orphans who have cognitive disabilities. Our goal would be to encourage individuals and churches to sponsor a specific child or children with intellectual disabilities to be safely, lovingly situated in an orphanage or orphan village. We are fully aware that caring for a child with an intellectual disability requires more adults (and trained ones, at that!) than a typical child requires. This program would remove all obstacles for each school or orphanage by supplying the funds to train and pay the trained workers for each location.

So you see, there are many different ways for you to be involved with us. And, with three children of our own who have cognitive disabilities, we can always use help.
